I have been slacking somewhat on course maintenance and upkeep for a couple of reasons. My main helper (Glenn) has been at his dads for the summer but is now back, I’ve had problems with the mower which is now in the shop, 4 x 4 is in the shop and mainly, I am building an addition on my home to keep my wife happy. If I keep her happy, I can begin to pour more money into the course again! I want everyone to know that the course is not in the kind of condition I would like it but it is still very playable and fun. There are also a few broken steps so if you play, use caution when you see a set of steps. I plan to put in new, updated steps in the problem areas and I have the material to build steps down #17. The grass is deep in places (mainly #2, 3 and 4 fairways) and I need to do alot of weed control. I plan to get things up to par toward the end of August. Things will be in great shape for the Kentucky State Doubles in September so start getting your partners lined up!

I would like to thank everyone for coming out to the Holler In The Hills #2 Tournament. The field was at maximum capacity and I think the tournament was played in a timely fashion.
During the players meeting I was thanking all the people who donated money, merchandise or services to my tournament. I was kind of overwhelmed taking morning sign ups, setting up the lunch area in advance, parking etc. It seems I had two lists of people to thank and I only read the names on one list. I even forgot to mention Disc Golf Shop and More (as I was working out of their trailer)! I am very sorry for the mishap. It really bothered me when I discovered my mistake and I want everyone to know that the donations were GREATLY appreciated. Your donations allowed me to pay back 100 percent of PRO money, 100 percent prize payback to Ams (and more), cover the PDGA fees, provide lunch and have some money left to go into the course. Here are the names of those who donated. I am sure I am still overlooking someone so please remind me via email at lil_trumperboy@yahoo.com and I will slide your name into this list.

2010 Improvements: See “Basket Upgrades” Page. There are elevated baskets on holes 1 and 18. Thanks to Glenn Thacker for hauling the rock/stones up from the creek and other places around the property. Wil Ennis is the master stone mason who constructed/designed the raised basket foundations. Thanks Will! The right side of hole 1 fairway has had alot of vegetation cleared from it. There is still some work to be done there so as always, use caution. Hole 2, 4 and 16 basket locations have been slightly moved (you probably won’t even notice it). The contents in the bus on #6 have been removed and there are plans to powerwash and paint the interior and exterior. I also plan to have a tow truck move the back of the bus (facing tee) 5′ to 10′ to the left and level it. This will be Tournament Central/Prize pick up in the near future but not in time for the Holler In The Hills Tournament. The fence is being cut out on the left side of #6 and somewhat cleared to aid in finding discs. Hole 9 fairway, left side from tee to basket is being cleaned up to be more friendly. The safety fence on Hole 14 Tee (rock to rock) was destroyed by a fallen tree. A new safety rail has been constructed along with a concrete tee pad on top of the rock to allow more room for teeing off and safety. It was very hard work doing that one! Many more changes to come.

Final baskets are in!

________________________________

Large area around #15 Basket (bluff wall) has been cleared of vegetation and fallen limbs/logs.

Handrail added to steps leading to #2 Tee.

Cleared out a lot of rough/briars at the right side, entrance to hole 7.

Added 4 feet to #3 Tee (12′ total length)

Cleared out a large section of the tree wall beginning from the O.B. rope at left, 30′ to the right and 6′ high except for the trunks of trees. This was done so golfers can actually see the contour of the O.B. rope on the other side of tree wall from the Tee. I’m sure this area will be exploited but it has risk/reward issues.
